The Best Way to Learn is to Simply Start

I guess you could say I'm a nerdy, late to the game, lifelong learner. After returning to school in my late 30's, graduating with my Bachelor's at 40, my Master's at 42, and in progress of a Special Education Endorsement, I have discovered I love to learn. The words "I'm too old to learn this" do not cross my lips because I am proving to myself every day when I figure out some tech tool, ask my friend Heather the 107th tech question, and read another book, that I can learn and I can help others to do the same.

Now, realize that my audience of who I help the most are relatively new humans...I teach kindergarten. They are generally quite a captive audience! I show them something and they immediately want to give it a try. The beauty of a five year old is that they haven't yet realized that they might not be able to do something. They are all in, ready to go, and pretty excited about it! We could learn a lot from a kindergartner. Don't be afraid to get dirty, do something you've never done before, and get super excited and want to tell everyone when we figure out something new!

So, here's my challenge to not only myself, but to you: I'm going to share my experiences, the good, the bad, and the "never do that in a lesson again" throughout my own learning, my classroom, and life in general. I pray that God will work through me to share things that might inspire you to do that thing you want to try, to ask someone to teach you how to do something "techie" or maybe it's not anything tech at all, maybe it's cooking, fitness, whatever it might be that you have in your heart that you want to take a chance on.

Here's to us, journeying our way through life, not being satisfied with the status quo, and definitely not ever saying "I'm too old to learn this"!
